About the Park Name

Is Kippford View the same park as Barlochan Caravan Park?

Yes. Kippford View was known for many years as Barlochan Caravan Park. The park joined the Gillespie Leisure Group in 1982 and has since been rebranded as Kippford View Holiday Park. Same park, same team, same location, just a name that better reflects where we are.

I booked when it was still called Barlochan, is my booking OK?

Yes. Existing bookings under the Barlochan name are unaffected. If you have any questions about your booking, please contact the park directly.

Arrival & Check-In

What time can I check in?

Check-in times vary by accommodation type:

Self-catering holiday homes: from 4.30pm

Glamping pods: from 4pm

Touring and camping pitches: from 1pm

If you're running early, you're welcome to use park facilities while we get your accommodation ready. If you're arriving after 5pm, please call the park ahead of time so we can make arrangements.

What time is check-out?

Check-out times vary by accommodation type:

Touring and camping pitches: by 11am

Glamping pods: by 10am

Self-catering holiday homes: by 11am

You're welcome to use park facilities for the rest of the day after check-out.

Pools & facilities

When is the heated outdoor pool open?

The pool is open from mid-May to mid-September, weather dependent. It's for customers staying on the park only.

Are there rules for using the pool?

Yes, for everyone's safety and enjoyment:

• Children under 15 must be supervised by a parent or guardian (minimum age 16) who is in the pool or at the poolside
• No diving, jumping or running at the poolside
• No glass, food, drinks or smoking in the pool, shower or changing areas
• Remove jewellery before entering the pool
• No large inflatables or ball games during busy periods
• Don't enter the pool straight after eating
• Customers who have been drinking alcohol won't be admitted
• For babies and small children who aren't toilet trained, swim nappies are available at pool reception

Is there Wi-Fi on park?

Yes, Wi-Fi is available on park. Register on your device on arrival, the first hour is free and you pay from the second hour onwards. Please note we're in a rural location, so the connection may be slow or intermittent at busy times.

Is there a shop on site?

Yes, there's a shop on park where you can buy coins for the washing machine and tumble dryer, plus other essentials. Kippford village (a short walk) and Dalbeattie (a short drive) have a full range of shops.

What other facilities are on park?

The park has a heated toilet block, laundry facilities (washing machine, tumble dryer, sink, iron and ironing board), lockable bike storage for 7stanes riders, a wooded dog walking area, and a children's outdoor play area. The toilet block, laundry and play area are open from 1 April (or Easter if earlier) to 31 October. Washing machine and tumble dryer are coin-operated, with coins available from the shop.

Can I have a BBQ or fire on park?

Raised purpose-built BBQs are allowed. Small disposable BBQs must be raised off the ground and only placed in the bins provided once fully cold. No open fires, fire pits or BBQs inside tents.

Can I fly a drone on park?

No. The use of drones on the holiday park is strictly prohibited, in line with the Civil Aviation Authority's Drone Code.

Are there quiet hours?

Yes. Noise should be kept to a minimum from 10.30pm, with absolute quiet between midnight and 8am. This includes children and adults shouting, dogs barking, playing music and general chatter.

Is smoking allowed on park?

No, all accommodation and park facilities are strictly non-smoking. Smoking in a holiday home will result in additional cleaning charges.

What's the speed limit on park?

10mph. All vehicles on park must be taxed, insured and have a valid MOT. Quad bikes, mini mopeds, scooters and any other motorised off-road vehicles aren't permitted.

Local Area

What's there to do near Kippford View?

Plenty. Kippford village (with its harbour-side pub, shops and the tidal causeway to Rough Island) is a short walk. Big Barwhanny Loch fishing is a short walk in the other direction. Dalbeattie Forest with its 7stanes mountain biking and walking trails is a short drive, as are Rockcliffe and Sandyhills beaches, Loch Arthur farm shop and café, Mabie Farm Park and Dalscone Farm Park, and the towns of Castle Douglas, Dalbeattie and Dumfries. Can I reach Kippford View by public transport?

The nearest train station is Dumfries (around 18 miles), with bus services onward to Dalbeattie and local taxis for the final leg. See /kippford-view/how-to-find-us/ for details.

Is the local village pub child-friendly?

The Anchor at Kippford is a traditional harbour-side pub that welcomes families during the day. Worth checking opening hours and family-friendly times directly with the pub if you're planning around little ones.

Is Kippford village dog-friendly?

Yes, the walk into Kippford is dog-friendly. The harbour-side pub typically welcomes dogs (worth confirming with the pub directly). Beaches at Rockcliffe and Sandyhills are dog-friendly, though check seasonal signage for restrictions during nesting season.

Dogs

Are dogs welcome?

Yes, dogs are welcome at Kippford View. We have pet-free and pet-friendly glamping pods, and many of our self-catering holiday homes accept up to two dogs. Dogs are charged at a nightly rate for touring or a weekly/short-break rate for self-catering. No puppies, and any other animals need specific park permission.

What are the rules for dogs in self-catering holiday homes?

A maximum of two dogs per unit. Please bring a bed or cage, as dogs aren't allowed on seating or beds, and they can't be left alone in the accommodation unless caged. If anyone in your party has allergies, we'd strongly recommend booking a unit that doesn't accept pets.

Where can I walk my dog on park?

There's a short wooded dog walking area on park. We ask that all dogs are kept on a lead on the park and surrounding paths, including the woods nearby, as some children and adults are scared of dogs. Please pick up after your dog.

Can I walk my dog in the village and on the beach?

Yes. The walk into Kippford is dog-friendly. Beaches at Rockcliffe and Sandyhills (a short drive south) are also dog-friendly, check seasonal signage for any local restrictions. Please keep dogs on a lead and away from livestock, as dogs found chasing farm animals will be asked to leave the park.

What about assistance dogs?

Assistance dogs are welcomed and exempt from charges, with an Identification Book or other appropriate evidence from Assistance Dogs UK. Assistance dogs are allowed in all park facilities except the outdoor swimming pool.

Accommodation

What kinds of accommodation are at Kippford View?

Kippford View offers self-catering holiday homes to let, glamping pods (pet-free and pet-friendly), and a range of touring and camping pitches. Holiday home ownership is also available.

How many people can stay in a holiday home?

Our two-bedroom holiday homes sleep up to four, and our three-bedroom holiday homes sleep up to six. All units are 12ft wide, double glazed and centrally heated, with a veranda and outdoor furniture.

What's included in a self-catering holiday home?

Power, hot water, heating, TV, cooker, fridge/freezer, microwave, kettle, toaster, cutlery, crockery, pots, pans, utensils, pillows, duvets, parking for one vehicle, and a veranda with outdoor furniture. You'll need to bring bed linen, towels, tea towels and food.

How long can I stay?

Self-catering bookings run weekly (Saturday to Saturday) or as short breaks (4 nights Monday to Friday, or 3 nights Friday to Monday).

Can I hire a cot or high chair?

Yes, both are available to hire at an additional charge, subject to availability. Please request at the time of booking and bring your own cot linen.

What pitch types do you offer for touring and camping?

We offer five pitch types: fully serviced pitches (electric, TV socket, fresh water, waste water drainage); hardstanding pitches with electric; electric pitches (grass or gravel); electric tent pitches (grass); and standard tent pitches (grass, no electric). Free electric is included on all hook-up pitches. You'll need a standard outdoor 16-amp/240V mains cable, up to 15 metres long.

Do you have holiday homes for sale?

Is Kippford View suitable for larger groups?

Kippford View is a small, quiet park best suited to couples, families and small groups. For group bookings, please call the park ahead of time so we can check availability.

Is there a minimum stay for glamping pods?

Yes, the minimum stay for glamping pods is two nights.

What ages can book?

All bookings must include at least one person aged 18 or over. We don't accept bookings from customers aged 17 or under.
