Glamping at Sandyhills Bay

Pet-friendly wooden pods on the dunes at Sandyhills Bay. Open the door, there’s the sand.

The pods at Sandyhills Bay are deliberately simple. Wooden, weather-proof, warm, and stripped back to what a night by the sea actually needs. No pretending to be a lodge, no wood-and-velvet styling. Somewhere comfortable and dry to sleep, cook breakfast and get the sandy kit off at the end of a day on the beach.

Because the pod isn’t the point, the bay is. You unlock the door, step onto the dune path, and the sand starts a few metres later. For a lot of our guests, the pod is somewhere to hang the wetsuit after a swim and sleep the rest off. That’s by design.

All our pods are pet-friendly, so Fido is welcome too. Please mention you’re bringing a dog at the time of booking.

Outside Your Pod

Outside Your Pod

The pods sit on the dune side of the park. Step off the decking and the dune path leads straight onto Sandyhills Bay. Turn left off the beach for the Colvend Coast path towards Rockcliffe. Turn right for the headland walk. The Clachan Inn in Sandyhills village is a short walk for dinner. The small on-park shop covers breakfast.

A weekend timed to the tide tables. Morning coffee on the decking with the marram grass moving, a tidal walk out to Rough Island at low water, and dinner at the Clachan Inn without moving the car.

The low-admin option. Out of the pod, onto the sand, crabbing buckets in hand before the adults have finished their coffee. Wet swimsuits on the line by noon, clean ones on by teatime.

Dog Walkers

Dog Walkers

Straight-onto-sand access from the pod, no loading the car, no looking for a parking spot. All pods are pet-friendly. The Colvend Coast path is off the end of the beach. The dog sleeps very well afterwards.

Wooden pods at Sandyhills Bay are available from 1 April (or Easter if earlier) until 31 October. Minimum stay is 2 nights. Rates and live availability are on our booking engine. Questions about arrival, parking or dogs? Our self-catering FAQs cover the lot.
