Getting to Sandyhills Bay by Car

Sandyhills Bay is easy to reach from across the UK. Approximate drive times to the park:

– From Glasgow, around 2 hours (via M74 and A75)
– From Edinburgh, around 2 hours 30 minutes
– From Carlisle, around 1 hour 15 minutes
– From Newcastle, around 2 hours 30 minutes
– From Manchester, around 3 hours

Final approach: From the A75, take the exit for Dalbeattie. From Dalbeattie, follow the A710 Solway Coast Road south. The park is signposted on the right as you approach Sandyhills village. Look for the Clachan Inn on the opposite side of the road. The bay appears directly in front of you as you pull into the park.

By train
The nearest railway station is Dumfries, around 20 miles from the park, with regular connections from Glasgow and Carlisle.

By bus
Stagecoach services link Dumfries and Dalbeattie regularly, with onward services along the A710. Local taxi services from Dalbeattie cover the short final leg to the park. Advance booking is recommended, particularly in the summer.

By air
Glasgow Prestwick is the closest airport, around 1 hour 45 minutes by road.
