Sandyhills Bay Holiday Park sits on the Solway coast in Dumfries and Galloway, on the A710 Solway Coast Road between Rockcliffe and Dalbeattie. The defining fact of the park is its position: tucked at the foot of wooded hills and pressed up against the dune line of Sandyhills Bay itself, an award-winning stretch of pale sand a short walk through the marram grass. On a clear day the view across the Solway Firth picks out the Cumbrian coast. If you previously found us at sandyhillsbaycaravanpark.co.uk, you’re in the right place. We’ve joined the wider Gillespie Leisure Group website and you’ll find everything you need for Sandyhills on this section of the site.
Holidays here are shaped by the tide more than the clock. The sand appears and disappears twice a day; the causeway over to Rough Island opens for a window at low water; oystercatchers do the rest. Families book in with crabbing buckets and sandy cars and no apologies. Couples walk the Colvend Coast path after breakfast and end up at the Clachan Inn after dinner. Dog walkers step out of the pitch and onto the beach. Whether you’re looking at a holiday home to let, a wooden glamping pod on the dunes, or a pitch for the caravan or tent, Sandyhills Bay gives you the same thing: the beach at your feet.

Our wooden pods sit on the dune side of the park. Plain, weather-proof, beach-ready. Open the door in the morning and the only commute is across the sand. The pod is a base, not the destination. The bay is the destination.
Explore Glamping
Leave the caravan on the dune line and come back whenever the tide tables look friendly. A seasonal pitch at Sandyhills Bay puts your home-from-home a short walk from the beach for the full season. No towing, no set-up, just arrive and unroll the awning.
Enquire About Seasonal PitchesSandyhills Bay keeps its on-park footprint intentionally light. The beach is the facility. Rather than building around a pool, we’ve kept the park low and open so the bay can do its job. On site you’ll find a small shop for the essentials, a laundry for the inevitable sandy towels, and a shower and toilet block for touring and glamping guests. The Clachan Inn in Sandyhills village is walking distance for dinner.
Full Park Facilities
Sandyhills Bay sits on one of the Solway's most photographed beaches, a crescent of pale sand between two headlands. The Colvend Coast path runs in both directions from the bay, with rock pools, sea-pink cliffs and on a clear day, the Lake District fells across the Firth.
Kippford, Rockcliffe and the tidal causeway to Rough Island are minutes west. Dalbeattie Forest (one of Scotland's original 7stanes MTB centres) and Mersehead RSPB are both short drives inland. The coast and the hills, without moving the car much.
Sandyhills Bay is one of four family-run holiday parks in the Gillespie Leisure Group, all set within Dumfries and Galloway. We’ve been welcoming visitors to the Solway coast for almost 50 years. If you’re planning a longer stay or weighing up a different kind of base, discover our other parks.
